Grapes: Sangiovese, Montepulciano
From: Umbria, Italy
Farming Practices: Organic, Sustainable
Originally from Sardegna, Giovanni Mesina relocated to the hills of Umbria to continue the family tradition of farming sheep, producing milk, cheese, wool, and pasture-raised meat. While his wines were previously made for home consumption, Giovanni released his first vintage to the public in 2017. The il Rozzo is dusty and bright, providing a rustic presentation of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Montepulciano. Vinified entirely in resin-lined tanks on natural yeasts; unfined, unfiltered.
